Readaro

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 26, 2026

Readaro is a reading app for Windows. This page explains what information Readaro uses, why, and who it is shared with. In short: your reading data is used only to run Readaro for you. We don't sell it, and there are no ads.

What stays on your computer

You can use Readaro without an account. Then nothing in this list leaves your computer, and the sections below about your account, syncing and AI don't apply.

Your account and syncing

When you create an account, we store your email address and a protected form of your password. When you are signed in, Readaro syncs your library to our cloud database so it's the same on all your computers. That includes your books' details and covers, the book files themselves (up to a size limit), your reading positions, pages read, reading time, goals, highlights, notes and settings. Each account can only ever see its own data.

Our cloud database is run by Supabase.

AI features (Readaro Pro)

Retain Pro, Mastery and "Help me choose" use AI from Anthropic (Claude). When you use them, the text you are learning from is sent to Anthropic to write questions and feedback. That means the pages you just read, your typed answers, and for "Help me choose" the titles, notes and answers about your To Read list. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use this information to train its AI models.

For each AI request we record which account made it, which feature it was for, and how much it cost. We use this to keep each account within its monthly AI allowance. It does not include the text itself.

Payments

Readaro Pro is sold through Polar, which handles the payment (and uses Stripe for it). We never see or store your card number. We receive your subscription's status (for example "active" or "cancelled"), its renewal date and the email address it belongs to.

What we don't do

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account data while your account exists. To delete your account and everything synced with it, email support@tryreadaro.com from the address you signed up with. We delete it within 30 days. Payment records that the law requires us to keep are kept by Polar. Uninstalling Readaro removes the program but keeps your library on your computer, so reinstalling brings it back.

Children

Readaro is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and let account holders know by email or in the app.
